An unidentified Westcountry? schooner or yacht .

The picture shows a half-hull model of a vessel, once the property of Captain Stephen Sawle of Falmouth in Cornwall and latterly of Cardiff, Wales. The model appears not to represent a schooner he is known to have sailed, the "Edward Sawle" built in 1839.

The model appears to have been made for display, rather than as an aid to building. (It does not carry any measurement markings within the laminations which form the hull). It is mounted on mahogany and measures around 23 inches along the deck. There is a brief note on Stephen Sawle and the background to this model here.
